The project

In 2004, OpusVL were requested to support a growing, high profile company who manages sensitive issues relating to staff and infrastructure notification for large financial organisations. The client provides a 24/7 solution and promises extremely high availability to its customers backed by generous service credits should any failure to deliver occur.

OpusVL have developed various critical systems to support the client including communication protocols to take data from corporate Network Management Systems (NMS) pertaining to network failures and ensuring that all relevant staff are made aware of the issues and that the responses are delivered in near real time back to the NMS.

This system is also used to notify staff should there be a disaster or event which affects the safety or operation of the company.

OpusVL also manage the client's data centres. This involves managing the networks, remotely monitoring services, installing equipment and servicing. There are 3 UK data centres and one in New York, USA.

The relationship

OpusVL work very closely with the client. Consultants visit customers with the client to provide additional technical support and ensure that the project quality is maintained. This helps the customer understand the full potential of the solution and ensures there is no filtering of customer information to the development team.

Intelectual Property (IP) protection

OpusVL commenced this project with the full understanding that the client wishes to own all IPR created within this project and ensure that using an Open Source development would not compromise the integrity or ownership of the investment. OpusVL have been challenged with this scenario many times so are familiar with the mechanisms to provide this assurance.
