London.gov.uk has switched to Drupal Open Source CMS (Content Management System)

The london.gov.uk site is the official site for the Mayor of Londons Office as well as the Greater London Authority. Drupal will enable the GLA to include updated features for example, improved accessibility, easier page navigation and additional relevant content.

The Greater London Authority team believe that the use of Drupal will be a significant step in providing the city of London with improved access to their site and the basis for the use of new digital channels to connect with the public.

They are committed to the use of the open source CMS over proprietary software and believe other government bodies should follow. The team feel the savings, ease of use and the ability for others to use the code from these applications are the main benefits.

The GLA are also using Drupal for two other large projects - "Climate Change Adaptation" and the "London Datastore"

Drupal creator and project lead Dries Buytaert said, "Every major city deserves such a site."
